Methanol 2013

June 24, 2013

Hall «Yaroslavl»
Hotel «Baltschug Kempinski Moscow»

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!

CREON Energy has the pleasure of inviting you to the Eighth International «Methanol 2013» Conference held at Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow on June 24, 2013.

At our past events, Methanol was widely discussed as a primary product of gas chemicals. Its main consumption markets in such sectors as resins and high-octane fuel additives have been studied in details. Methanol and its derivatives are of great importance for exploration of raw hydrocarbons in Eastern Siberia and in the Far East, since direct export of gas fractions is difficult from remote fields in these regions.

This year, we would like to focus on Methanol as a globalized business. Availability of cheap gas on long-term agreements has triggered new investments worldwide, and Methanol production is expected to grow radically, particularly in Russia.

Therefore, advanced processing technologies and new application areas for Methanol and its derivatives will be in the spotlight of discussions. The Conference will touch upon global trends in using Methanol as energy resource that are gaining momentum globally and can become the growth driver in Russia too.

Use of Methanol as a high-octane fuel component, and its direct use as a fuel is an opportunity not only for automotive sector, but also for bunkering. In Russian gasoline production, MTBE is already used to meet Euro 5 standard, while certain techniques and petrol supply management are still to be adopted in order to replace bunker oil in vessels by Methanol.

Methanol in Gasoline is also a topic in energy discussions under the consideration of future supply security and further implementation of clean fuel acts.
Other important points include Methanol to Olefins (MTO), Methanol in shale gas based gasoline production, and even Methanol as a storage option for grid electricity.

The following key issues will also be covered at the Conference:

  • Global and Russian markets of Methanol and its derivatives, price situation in the main product markets;
  • Assessment of announced projects for production and processing of Methanol in the territory of the Russian Federation and globally;
  • Development of export infrastructure. Possible changes in supplies geography of Russian companies;
  • Gas chemicals development in Eastern Siberia and in the Far East as the growth driver for the whole region;
  • Compact Methanol production units for remote fields.
